Meeting the clothing needs of all eligible children, in a friendly, pleasant, and positive atmosphere that nurtures self-esteem, and thus enhances learning.
Arlington Kids’ Kloset occupies four renovated classrooms in the old Arlington High School. Discretion and sensitivity are paramount in our services. By locating our services off-site from our student’s own schools, we preserve privacy and make students more comfortable when using our service.
We strive to create a welcoming environment, and an enjoyable “shopping” experience, just as it would be in their favorite retailer. The only difference is that all items are free of charge.

Our service is available to low income students in the Arlington, Darrington, and Lakewood School Districts, any student in Early Childhood Education Assistance Programs (ECEAP), and any homeless and unaccompanied youth in the areas served by these school districts. In addition to these clients we also serve youth in families with emergency needs due to fire, natural disaster or sudden relocation. We have served those referred to us by the Red Cross and will continue to serve any student with emergency needs.
When a new client comes to us, they find a large display room that is well organized and professionally presented with areas separated just like a department store: boys, girls, teens, and shoes. Clothing is displayed on retail clothing racks and organized by size and color. The items we provide are high quality (usually name brand) and are available in a wide variety of sizes and styles with private dressing rooms available for both boys and girls.
We are open for clients to shop mid-August thru March. Our holiday schedule follows the Arlington School District calendar.
Back to school will be coming quickly! Arlington Kids’ Kloset provided 1005 wardrobes for the 2014/15 school year.
Please remember to donate your items to AKK to help our kids start the new school year right!
We welcome your donations of new and gently used clothing items for children ages preschool through grade 12. We are also in need of NEW socks, underwear, toiletries, and shoes. Please also consider donations of laundry and cleaning supplies to keep our site running. You can find donation bins at the following locations in our community:
Additionally, we accept monetary donations of any amount : just $30 will provide new socks and underwear for 3 children and $100 sponsors a child. All contributions are tax deductible. (Tax ID #54-2161032)
Thank you!
A core group of ladies have been volunteering with Kids' Kloset for many years. Ever faithful, they show up week after week on their morning and begin sorting incoming donations, washing and drying laundry, processing newly purchased items, stocking the floor, serving families and much, much more! Although each week they have tasks they complete regularly the need is always different and volunteers are quite adaptable to whatever need is greatest on that given week.
We are always looking for people who want to enrich their lives by helping children! Please drop in during any of our open hours to take a tour and/or inquire about volunteer opportunities. We need help with:
